Haar Leaves Western Michigan

Defenseman Likely Headed to WHL

CHN Staff Report

Junior defenseman Garrett Haar has been released from Western Michigan, according to a release from WMU coach Andy Murray.

Haar stated on Twitter account that he is likely headed to the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League. However, he is not sure of his exact destination at this time.

WMU loses one of its most experienced and talented blue-liners with Haar's departure.

"Garrett has not lived up to his committment to his academics and his Bronco hockey teammates, and we have decided to part ways with him," Murray said in a statement released by the university.

In two seasons in Kalamazoo, Haar appeared in 58 games, scoring four goals and adding 13 assists.
