Commitment Q&A: UAA's Cam Amantea

by Mike McMahon/Staff Writer

'94-born forward Cam Amantea is on his way to Anchorage after committing to the program earlier this week. The 5-foot-10, 181-pounder caught up with CHN to talk about his commitment.

CHN: What made Alaska the right place for you?

Amantea: "It just felt right to me. Their coaches made me feel like I can fit in with their program right away. From what I've heard Anchorage is a great place to both live and play."

CHN: How would you describe your style? Is there an NHL player you try to model your game after?

Amantea: "I would say I work hard and have a high compete level. I can think the game pretty well and can use my speed and strength down low in the zone."

CHN: I hope I have the timeline right, but I believe you won an MPHL title with the Edge School? That must have been a great experience.

Amantea: "Yes I did, that was a pretty special year for us. We ended up going 16-0 in the MPHL and also won the CSSHL in the same year. It was an awesome experience, we were the only team out west so we were flying every month to cities like Pittsburgh, Chicago and Montreal to play on the weekends."
