Ohio State's Tomkins Week to Week

Injury was Feared to Be Season Ending

CHN Staff Report

Ohio State goaltender Matt Tomkins, who left Saturday's game against Niagara in the first period with a leg injury, will not miss the remainder of the season, and is week to week.

Originally, it was feared Tomkins may have broken his leg. But upon further evaluation,  it was determined not to be a break, and he will miss a few weeks.

Nevertheless, that leaves Ohio State with just one goalie at the moment, untested freshman Logan Davis. Davis saw his first action in relief of Tomkins, picking up the win with 14 saves on 15 shots.

The team's other goaltender, sophomore Collin Olson, recently left the program to play junior hockey, upset over lack of playing time.

Coach Steve Rohlik has not yet indicated where he will find a backup goalie for this week's upcoming games.
