Notre Dame's Hinostroza Out 2-4 Weeks

CHN Staff Report

Notre Dame freshman Vince Hinostroza is expected out 2-4 weeks after suffering a leg injury against Minnesota last Saturday.

Hinostroza, a hopeful to make the U.S. World Junior team, has been the team's top point getter with 12 so far, on three goals and nine assists, this season.

"For a freshman he's a pretty big loss for us," Notre Dame coach Jeff Jackson told Irish Illustrated. "He's generated a lot of offensive opportunities for us with his speed and playmaking ability. We'll have to make sure other guys elevate from an offensive perspective because he's filled in a nice role for us in a second, third line center role and given us a little offensive depth."

Notre Dame also remains without defenseman Eric Johnson.

"Vince is having a great start to the year. It's bad losing him," Notre Dame captain T.J. Tynan told Irish Illustrated. "I think we've gotta have more team offense. We can't rely on individuals to do that."

Notre Dame is off to a 7-3 start. It hosts Merrimack in a pair of games this weekend.
