Parenteau Out Up to 2 Months With Broken Leg

CHN Staff Report

Minnesota defenseman Jake Parenteau will undergo surgery this week after suffering a broken leg and will miss up to two months, coach Don Lucia said.

Parenteau was injured in Friday's shootout loss to Michigan State making a check on an opponent in the first period.

Parenteau, a 24-year old senior and the only undrafted blueliner on the Gophers, had 1 assist in 12 games this season.

The injury leaves Minnesota depleted, particularly with Brady Skjei set to play in the World Junior championships at the end of the month. The Gophers will be with only five defenseman for the Mariucci Classic, unless something else changes.
