Three Added to World Junior Prelim Roster

CHN Staff Report

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Hockey has added three players to the preliminary roster for the World Junior Championships, bringing the total to 29.

Forwards Vince Hinostroza (Notre Dame) and Zach Stepan (Minnesota State), and defenseman Jaccob Slavin (Colorado College), were added to take part in a training camp, Dec. 15-18 at Minnesota's Mariucci Arena.

The roster will be slimmed to 23 for the IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Malmo, Sweden. The training camp will continue in Angelholm, Sweden, before the final 23-man roster is announced on Dec. 23.

The 5-foot-9 Hinostroza just recently returned to the lineup this past weekend after missing six games with an injury. He is second on the Irish in scoring with 14 points.

Stepan is 4-3—7 and leads Mavericks forwards with a plus-3 rating. The 6-foot-3 Slavin is tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points as a freshman, and leads the team with a plus-2 rating.

The U.S. will play three games before the start of the World Junior Championship, including Dec. 17 against Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn., and contests in Angelholm vs. Finland on Dec. 20 and Sweden on Dec. 22.
