Michigan State Freshman Leaves for USHL

Michigan State redshirt freshman Connor Wood has decided to leave the program to play for Muskegon in the USHL.

Wood sat out last year as a redshirt, and did not appear in any of the Spartans' 14 games this season.

Wood, the Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native previously played for Des Moines in the USHL before going to the Detroit Honeybaked Under-18 team in 2011-12.

With Honeybaked, Wood played with Brock Krygier, who is son of Muskegon coach Todd Krygier, a former NHL player.
