Notre Dame's Russo Ruled Ineligible

CHN Staff Report

Notre Dame's has lost its top-scoring defenseman, at least for now.

Junior Robbie Russo has been ruled academically ineligible for this semester. According to Irish coach Jeff Jackson, Russo is trying to get a grade changed that would affect his eligibility, and get reinstated in time for this weekend's games against Northeastern.

Russo has 4 goals and 15 points in 21 games this season. He had a career high 23 points last season.

Russo, 6-foot, 190 lbs., was a fourth round pick of the New York Islanders in the 2011 NHL Draft. He came to Notre Dame from the U.S. National program.
