Hockey East Suspends Madigan One Game

CHN Staff Report

Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna has suspended Northeastern coach Jim Madigan for one game as a result of public criticism of game officials.

Madigan made his remarks after the team's quarterfinal series loss to New Hampshire, Sunday, March 16.

The suspension will take effect for the first NCAA game on Northeastern's 2014-15 schedule.

“Using the media to criticize an official’s decision is contrary to league policy and is inherently unfair to the officials who work hard for college hockey each and every night,” Bertagna said. “Hockey East and Northeastern University expect better from our head coaches and Jim has acknowledged his error in this situation.”
