CHN Staff Report

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Rick Bennett, who led Union to this spring's NCAA national championship, has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2021-22 season.

Bennett is 80-27-16 (.715) in three seasons at Union, including a postseason mark of 19-2. He has led the Dutchmen to a pair of NCAA Frozen Fours, three NCAA tournaments, three ECAC tournament titles and two ECAC regular-season crowns.

Bennett was named 2013-14 Spencer Penrose Award winner by the American Hockey Coaches Association as the nation's top coach. He was also College Hockey News' Coach of the Year.

In 2013-14, Bennett led Union to the most wins (32) and the top winning percentage (.810) in the nation. The 32 wins set a new school record and matched the third-most wins in the ECAC's 53-year history.
