Patrick Foley Steps Down as Northeastern Assistant

CHN Staff Report

Northeastern assistant coach Patrick Foley has resigned, according to sources.

Foley was set to begin his fourth season behind the Northeastern bench this coming fall. Along with previous experience at Harvard, Foley is also a former assistant for the U.S. National Development Program.

Director of Hockey Operations Jason Smith will assume Foley's recruiting responsibilities while a permanent replacement is sought. Smith is considered a favorite for the permanent job, a source said.

Prior to joining Northeastern two years ago, Smith spent seven seasons as an assistant coach under Paul Pearl at Holy Cross, where he also served as recruiting coordinator. Prior to Holy Cross, he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Babson College.

Jerry Keefe enters his fourth season behind the Northeastern bench as the top assistant coach for head coach Jim Madigan, who is also entering his fourth season. Keefe "holds a significant role in recruting," according to his staff bio.
