Denver Bolsters D With Midseason Recruit

CHN Staff Report

Denver has made a midseason roster addition, bringing in defenseman recruit Ryan Orgel from the Lone Star Brahmas of the NAHL.

Orgel, a 5-foot-11, 185-pounder, recorded seven points (5-2—7) through 11 games with Lone Star during the 2017-18 season. The Los Angeles native registered 38 points (15-23—38) and 95 penalty minutes through 67 games overall in the NAHL.

The move suggested that senior defenseman, and captain, Adam Plant may be out long term. Plant suffered a concussion after taking a nasty hit Nov. 18 against North Dakota. However, Plant was back in the lineup Friday night.

“Ryan has continued to get better throughout his career in the North American Hockey League,” Denver coach Jim Montgomery said. “His great start to this season led to our decision to add him to improve our defense for this year and years to come.”

Orgel is eligible to join the Pioneers immediately.
